Birch Tree Table Art & Rings

The Paper Birch, slender and elegant, with its intensely white bark, is visible even in the dark of night. The tough outer wrapping of the tree is the bark from which American Indians fashioned their strong, lightweight bark canoes. These Native Americans, as well as early colonists and European herbalists, all agreed that birch leaves were therapeutic and all prescribed them for many disorders. The leaves and twigs of some birches boast a spicy aroma and are used to make scented oil. Because of their singular beauty, they have been designated National Memorial Trees for Mothers and as such were planted on the Capitol grounds in Washington, DC.
This is a must have for your spring and summer decorating. Can you imagine how beautiful your flowers will look in these?

Pea Pods

These annuals prefer cool weather and mature early. The "peas" inside the pod are considered berries by botanists. Common folklore regarding peas is that if you count the number of peas in a pod the crop will fail. Pennsylvanian Germans always planted peas under the sign of Gemini, hoping to get two for one and double pods.

Hand patinaed bronze with fresh water pearls.

Lilly of the Valley NEW addition

This flower traditionally graces christenings, birthdays, weddings and anniversaries. According to tradition, a few pips should be planted in the newlywed's garden; thereafter the perennial blooming of the flowers is said to signify the couple's renewed devotion. The flower has also been credited with heightening romance: In ancient times, its delicate perfume was considered to be a love potion and its essential oil was so valuable it was hidden away in vessels of pure silver & gold. Our lily of the valley line is cast in bronze. The stems are hand patinaed and the flowers have a silver finish with freshwater pearls inside.

New Botanical Designs & Table Top by Four Seasons Design Group

2009 is going to be such an exciting year for us at Botany's Desire Boutique. Why you ask? Well for many reasons. You see, as a business owner your mission is always in search of the next fabulous find to carry in your business. This is what always inspires me to continue to love what we do at Botany's Desire. One of the things for me is to find products for the boutique that represent the essence of Botany's Desire. A product that when you see it you instantly pause in your track in awe and that very moment you know, this is it and you must have it.

Well, I had one of these moments last week while on a buying trip in New York. I came across the most amazing designs by Michael Michaud.

Silver Seasons - Michael Michaud's Botanical Jewelry (See Michael Above)

The Silver Seasons jewelry collection, designed by Michael Michaud, captures the beauty and exquisite detail of nature in metals, pearls and stones.

Artist Michael Michaud was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He currently resides in Fairfield, CT with his wife and children. Michael studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology's prestigious school for American craftsmen, graduating in 1980. In 1991, fortunate enough to be living in the Connecticut countryside and working near New York City's flower district, Michael's love of nature began to combine with his love of jewelry.

Silver SeasonsToday's collection is a combination of Michael's exceptional knowledge of jewelry making and his love of nature. He has perfected the technique of creating models from natural elements and, after models are made, manipulating these "copies of nature" into beautiful jewelry. Using bronze, sterling silver or gold and natural stones and pearls, Michael's designs have become well known for their remarkable craftsmanship and beauty.
